WHAT IS YERSINIA ENTEROCOLITICA ANTIBODY TEST?
Yersinia enterocolitica is a bacterium found in animal carriers and bodies of water that is transmitted to humans by the faecal-oral route or by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the organism. Y. enterocolitica causes gastroenterocolitis accompanied by diarrhoea, anorexia, fever, vomiting, headache, arthritis, and abscesses and may progress to septicemia. Incidence is more common in children and teens than in adults. In this test, an indirect Coombs’ test is performed to identify the presence of the antibody to Y. enterocolitica.
